The master plan of the town takes a prolonged shape, and its lands are encompassed by the lands of Hebron, Dura, BeitKahel, Tarqumia and Idna. It is characterized by a rugged and rough mountainous geographical features. As for houses, they are situated on a top of a mountainous hill, separated by wadis (valleys) of medium depth. The town rises 850 m. above sea-level, and the average annual rainfall is (457 mm.). The average annual temperature is (16 °C) and the average moisture is (61°C) .
Data analysis of this section depends on the final results of the Palestinian Central Census Bureau for population and plants or installations conducted in 2007. It was also supported by the interviews done with municipality and representatives of the local institutions and the supervising groups who interviewed women, youth and farmers. In 1922, the total population of the town was (461); in 1945, the population was about (780) ; in 1967, it was about (1600); in 1978, it was (3400); in 2007, it was (10330); and in 2010, the total population was (11150). The population is expected to reach (13022) people in 2014, and this number represents (1.91%) out of the total population of Hebron Governorate. The town of Taffouh consists of a few number of neighborhoods and quarters, and it lacks strong infrastructure and modern buildings.
The percentage of population growth is about (3.3%) and that percentage is relatively high in comparison with the population growth in the West Bank which reaches (2.65%). As for the average of population density, it reaches to (686) inhabitants per 1Km², and the percentage increases to reach (1,857) inhabitants inside the borders of municipality, whereas it declines significantly to 1 person per 4 km² outside the municipality borders.
Table No. (1) shows the population growth in Taffouh over, the past years of development. It should be noted that the numbers are approximate or rough according to the general census in 2007-2014 conducted by the Palestinian Central Census Bureau with exeption for the localities of Loza, Sh'ib Al-Malh (Al-Malh Pass), and Idghabees, whose population together amounts about (3500), taking into consideration the percentage of annual increase.
Table No. (2) shows the aged group is small, where it does not exceed (3%) out of total population of the town. The children group up to the age of 14 represent the pyramid base, where they represent (55.1%) of the total population. The adult group (15-64) years represent (41.9%) of the total population. The old-aged people represent only (3%). This means that the pyramid peak is narrow. The percentage of males to females is (100-103), where the male percentage is (50.8%) and the female percentage is (49.2%).
This indicates that the Palestinian society in Taffouh is a young society as its base is broad. It gradually shifts to the adult group with relatively increasing rates and concentrated more among the young group. These data spotlight on the future strategic planning which should be focused on this important group for the purpose of enhancing and promoting their capacities and exploit their resources. As for old-aged group (65-above), their percentage is lowand it is economically an inactive group since they are consuming people and often not practicing any job or work.
